How Tapping Changed My Body Shape!

I am often asked how how I have managed to change my body shape in under a year…. and I have one simple answer – Tapping.

I was a fitness instructor for over 15 years, but due to a family crisis, left the industry to care for our children, after our eldest child was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome.

Over the next 15 years, even though I still kept relatively fit and watched what I ate, my shape changed, the kilos went on. There was a lot of emotion and stress over those years, and it showed in my body.  Weight crept on, I put on 8 kilos in two years.  My energy levels were shot and I began to resign myself to the fact that as I was getting closer to 60 than 50 – it was the way it was going to be!

But a little over 12 months ago I discovered the transformational technique of Tapping – and it has been instrumental in helping me reverse the ageing process, change my body shape and changed my life in so many ways.

Through both my own experience, and with working with hundreds of clients over the years in the fitness industry, I knew that food and exercise had little to do with weight.

I would see over and over again people going on diets, signing up on gym programs and feeling incredibly inspired to get their bodies into shape, only to have it all go pear shape within a few weeks and take them back to square one (often square minus one!)

We are overwhelmed with information about dieting and exercising and have been since the late 1970’s. So if it was about information, everybody would be thin!

Whilst I knew all this, I couldn’t see the connection for me. Until one day the stress and limiting beliefs I had kept inside of me for years, came to a head.

It was then I was introduced this strange technique of tapping – and it quite simply changed my life.  The impact on my body, energy and weight was extraordinary!

Here is how it works

Weight is the product of an emotion, not the cause of it.

You are not unhappy because you are overweight, you are overweight because you are unhappy, sad, stressed, depressed, don’t feel good enough, don’t feel worthy…and the list goes on.

Every single action we take is based on a belief we have about ourselves.   Every single decision and action we take is a direct result of what we believe about ourselves.  Those beliefs usually developed by reactions to incidents that occurred in our childhood.

You may have been told that ‘you would never amount to anything’– so that relates now for you  in sabotaging your success in your adult life.  You may have experienced bullying or exclusion when you were at school, and that now relates to feeling unworthy or invaluable as an adult.

But those beliefs are not real, nor are they the truth.  Those beliefs are just stories, interpretations based on where you were emotionally at the time.

More often than not, the weight is our body’s way of keeping us safe and cocooning the hurt.  For many, it represents ‘stuffing down the emotion’ so you don’t have to deal with the pain.

But when you get to the root cause of the story, the emotion and the belief and clear it – the weight no longer has a reason to be there.

And that’s where Tapping comes in!

Tapping is an emotional psychology technique that releases stress by lowering the body’s stress hormone cortisol.  In doing so, helps you release the emotional trauma around a belief or event.

Tapping helps you release the heaviness and weight of beliefs and stories that no longer serve you. So as your heart, soul and mind became lighter in releasing the weight of emotions not previously dealt with, your body responds.

For me, as  I released the limiting beliefs and toxic emotions I was carrying around within my subconscious – my body responded.  I began to make choices to honour my body, rather than choices to not deal with the emotion. As I began to feel emotionally lighter, my energy levels increased and the desire to become physically stronger increased.

I have no problems with getting up at 4:30am every morning to meditate, tap and workout… why? Because I so look forward to the peace of the mornings, setting the intentions for my day and the feeling of challenging every cell in my body to feel stronger and produce more energy –   I LOVE that feeling.  I am falling in love with my body for the first time in my life, because I am also falling in love with me!

Weight is not about the food you eat or the exercise you do – it is about the reason why you don’t do what you know you should!

It’s that simple.
