About Sally

Sally Thibault

Speaker, Author of two books David’s Gift Asperger’s Life and Love & Tapping to Reclaim You , Certified EFT Practitioner & International Trainer, Dip. Prof. Counselling, ADAPEF and Reclaim You founder

Sally has a unique gift.  The gift of being able to ‘listen’ to the words your heart wants others to hear, but often you are afraid to speak.

We want the world to see us as capable, smart and keeping on top of our game, but often our inner world is one of turmoil, with our own inner critic having way too much power over us.

It is true that often times we would never speak to the ones we love, as we do to ourselves. That inner critic is responsible for us failing to express who we really are. Fear of Failure, Fear of Success, Fear of Intimacy, Fear of Shining our light brightly, Fear of not being accepted, liked, loved…. these all issues created from the stories of our lives.

“The wonderful thing about working with Sally is that she listens to you without judgement and can easily identify and clear the challenges you are facing so you are free to be the REAL you!”

With experience comes wisdom. Having gone through the loss of a parent to cancer, the diagnosis of her eldest child with autism, and losing the family home, she finally realised that each challenge bought with it a gift. That gift was her ‘soul’s’ desire for her to understand and learn from each lesson. To truly discover that happiness, love and joy lie deep within the love and acceptance of ourselves.

A Little More About Sally

Originally from Melbourne, the lure of travel to Canada had always held fascination. In the 1970’s she was fascinated by the then Prime Minister of Canada Pierre Trudeau. She set her intentions as a young girl to some day travel to Canada and meet a French-Canadian.  In 1979 she headed off to tour the US and Canada and was introduced to her now husband – Gerry Thibault!  (pronounced Teebow)  They lived in Edmonton for four years before returning to Australia to raise children by the ocean.

Gerry and Sally have together raised three grown up and very successful adult children who are all working in their chosen fields of expertise .

Her Experience

Fitness Instructor & Seminar Presenter

A fitness instructor for over 15 years, she was an Instructor trainer, host of Canada’s first Fitness TV Show Aerobics Unlimited  and host of StayLite with K-Lite’ the world’s largest indoor aerobic class with over 2000 participants. (1982)

Realising that the fitness industry didn’t really cater to the needs of the ‘average’ woman, she developed a series of seminars called The Art of Losing Weight Permanently and these form the basis of the RECLAIM YOU Program today.

A Change in Direction

In 1996 after her son was diagnosed with Aspergers, she and husband Gerry made the difficult but heart-felt decision for Sally to leave her career to become a fulltime parent and carer to their son and two daughters.  Over the next  four years she spent time navigated requiring therapies and could focus on the best possible outcomes.

Educational Marketing

In 2000, once her son commenced a full time educational program with good support,  she was offered a  career as the Director of Community Relations for a Queensland Independent school, a position she held for ten years. During that time, she served as the Vice President of ADAPE Queensland (Association of Development Professionals in Education) from 2004 till 2008 and presented at three ADAPE International Conferences on the topics of Educational Marketing.

Autism & AspergersDG -US version 3d (2)

In April 2010 after much prompting from friends, she wrote about their journey in a book called David’s Gift, the inspirational true story about how she changed from wishing to make her son ‘normal’, to recognising his unique difference and personality and in doing so enabled him to take his first steps towards a less fearful, more connected life.

Today her son is an adult, University graduate, a successful Video Editor and Producer, a world traveller and is soon to be married to the love of his life. The story offers hope, inspiration and insight into how to overcome the challenges of Aspergers and Autism for those living with the diagnosis.

That book commenced a career supporting parents who are raising, and teachers who are teaching children living with Autism.   Since then, Sally has presented at Autism Conferences, world-wide online Telesummits, Teacher In-Service Days and taken up a position as a Guest-Lecturer at the University of South East Queensland.

Emotional Freedom Technique Practitioner – Reclaim You

In 2013 she was introduced to the powerful transformational technique called Tapping – Emotional Freedom Technique. Recognising this technique as being a life changer it  has been the catalyst for massive change for her personally, and for her clients!

Through the power of Tapping, Sally has worked with hundreds of clients who have experienced her unique gift of ‘listening to the language of their heart’ and helping clear blocks and issues in order to  truly reclaim their true self.

She also hold a Diploma of Professional Counselling, is one of four international Evidence Based EFT Trainers, and is a  fellow of the Association of Development Professionals in Education.

The Gift of Stress

Each and everytime we are under stress, simply means that your souls desire and you currently reality are not congruent.  But how do you rationalize stress when you trying to manage it all?

In this powerful presentation, Sally will share how to reduce stress within a matter of moments, and discover what the gift is.

 Fit, Fabulous and 50

There is a fallacy – that as we get older we gain weight, slow down and have less energy!  Nothing could be further from the truth!  In fact at 58, Sally is a living breathing example of how as we become internally stronger, our physical body also desires to keep up!

In this high energy presentation, Sally will share with participants the power of Tapping and how it not only changed her on the inside, but created strong changes to her physical body.

I would like to recommend Sally Thibault, author and parent, without qualification as a speaker for your next event.

Sally was one of our key note speakers at the 2011 national Australian Guidance and Counseling Conference in Brisbane. Participants at this conference were school psychologists, counselors and guidance offices from across Australia.

Sally is the author of David’s Gift, and is a parent of a child with Asperger’s Syndrome.

Sally spoke with passion, energy and conviction. She was able to take the audience on a moving journey as she openly spoke of the impact that ASD had on her family and clearly conveyed the rollercoaster of emotions at each stage of her journey.

She was articulate, personable and easily engaged her audience. Her presentation was creative, distinctive and professional. Feedback from the audience was very positive with 90% of participants evaluating her presentation in the high or very high category, with comments such as Sally was empowering, having a regular person with a story challenged the way I do my practice.

I would highly recommend Sally as a welcome addition to your next event.
Sincerely,

— Brian Day, Conference Chair

I really enjoyed your two sessions and there were many positive comments I heard from delegates after you left. Dear Sally

I cannot thank you enough for this afternoon; you did a superb job.

I did not call for calls and truly it is impossible to predict when or if they will come in; had I asked for them there may well not have been any. I do know, however, from speaking engagements in the community that there is a strong feeling about and a great deal of interest in autism. Regardless of any of that, you handled them beautifully, a true professional.

— Elaine Harris Afternoon Show Presenter ABC Northern Tasmania

David’s Gift’ is unique as far as I’m concerned, in that it is the real-life journey from infancy to adulthood of a young man who is still finding his feet in a world which does not fit him. It is told from the perspective of a mum, whose own struggles and triumphs leap from the pages with raw emotion and hard-earned practical wisdom. I am grateful for Sally’s book both as a resource for clients and for its gift to us as an intimate insight into the life of a family wrestling with the challenges and costs that the desire for authentic relationship brings.

— Peter H Brown Clinical Psychologist Brisbane, Australia

I cried on the plane reading David’s Gift. Nearly finished. Great moments you shared and having your insight and your wisdom is real gift to me. The book has helped me immensely. Thank you Sally.

— Melissa Groom, Empowered Mums

— Susanne Ridolfi,  Nikken Wellness Systems

Dear Sally,

My Husband and I attended your presentation in Victoria recently.

I wanted to write and let you know how wonderful we think you are and to thank you for sharing your journey.  We learned so much from your presentation and you have inspired us to be better parents and to teach with love.

It has been such a daunting and emotional time for us all after our beautiful son was diagnosed with Asperger’s two years ago.Not being sure of what we could expect for his future and how to help him was so heartbreaking.

Your story has helped us understand our son and what it would be like for him.   We feel more confident now and have come away with a lot to think about and to put in place at home.   You helped us realise that we can teach though his interests and that anything is possible.

We are now looking forward to the future and all the surprises our son will give us along the way.

Thank you so much Sally, we will be forever grateful.

— Belinda an Darren, June 2012d

How inspiring! My son is thirteen turning fourteen and I have been to thinking about what his future will hold. This story has inspired me to help guide my son into a career that he will love, to take what he is good at now and nurture it into a wonderful future for my son. Anything is possible.
Thank You

— Annette Cannon

Hi Sally,
My Husband and I attended your seminar yesterday. Listening to your story has touched me so deeply as I felt as though you were telling my story. My husband and I have been separated for just over 1 year now and I do a lot of the battles on my own. My husband Phillip cannot understand Noah and would constantly put him down so I asked him to leave the family home as my children come first, but I am sure after hearing your story yesterday he has seen a different light on Asperger’s. Sally you have inspired me in so many ways I can’t begin to describe, I bought 2 copies of your book yesterday and I have already finished mine, and my mother is half way through her copy. Noah is a beautiful little boy whom I love with my whole heart and soul, He has just been accepted to attended main stream Prep next year which is terrifying me to pieces and I am so frightened that if I could wrap in my arms and protect him I would for the rest of his life but as you taught me yesterday Asperger’s is a gift and and I must walk with my boy to help him. Thank you again Sally your words have meant so much to me

My biggest learnings, is to work on my new goals. What is it I want to do, What am I passionate about. Even though you think it is one thing, once you peel back the onion you discover what the underlying concern is. Love it!
